Compliance with legislation

Once licensed, trust, loan and financing corporations must comply with applicable legislation, including the reporting requirements of The Trust and Loan Corporations Act, 1997.

All licensees must remit the annual fee by December 31 of every year.

Annual fees are based on asset size and licensing category:

  • total assets less than $10 million: $166.67 per month ($2,000 for the year); or,
  • total assets greater than $10 million and applicant to be licensed as a:
    • financing corporation: $708.33 per month ($8,500 for the year); or,
    • trust or loan corporation: $833.33 per month ($10,000 for the year)

All licensees must immediately inform the Saskatchewan Superintendent of Financial Institutions of any changes to their contact information, including:

  • mailing address;
  • phone or fax number;
  • address for Service; or,
  • email address.

Please refer to the Registration and Licensing System (RLS) information for instructions on how to update your account online.

Saskatchewan trust corporations and Saskatchewan loan corporations (i.e. corporations that are incorporated in Saskatchewan and are not authorized by the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada) (“OSFI”)) have additional reporting and compliance requirements. These licensees should contact the Saskatchewan Superintendent of Financial Institutions to discuss these requirements.
