Seeking Input on Door-to-Door Sellers

The Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority (FCAA) is seeking feedback from Saskatchewan businesses and consumers regarding proposed amendments to the laws concerning door-to-door sellers.

Read the Consultation Paper: Direct Sellers Act and Regulations

The Direct Sellers Act regulates individuals who solicit the purchase of goods and/or services door-to-door or by telephone.

Key issues for discussion include:

  • Enhanced disclosure for certain transactions;
  • Criminal Record checks;
  • Automatic licence cancellations and suspensions in certain circumstances;
  • Minimum financial security amounts;
  • Identification cards;
  • Changes to when contracts need to be in writing;
  • Contract duration limits;
  • Cancellation of contracts; and
  • Extended cancellation rights.
