Apply for a licence

Apply for a licence

The Insurance Act (IA) provides the framework for how insurance sales are regulated in Saskatchewan.

If you are seeking to become a licensed insurer, you must:

  1. Submit a completed application form;
  2. Provide all of the supporting materials described in the licensing kit; and
  3. Remit the $1,000 initial review fee (first time applicants only).

Every Saskatchewan incorporated entity and every reciprocal insurance exchange seeking an initial licence should contact the office of the Superintendent of Insurance to discuss additional requirements.

The classes of insurance under the IA have changed from what is listed in the Saskatchewan Classes of Insurance Referenced to OSFI Classes. When applying for a licence, please cite the OSFI classes or the classes that you are authorized for in your home jurisdiction.
